Identity theft protection for extra peace of mind

The insurer of the policy that provides you with the protection benefits is the HSB Group, part of Munich Re. HSB is a leading provider of specialty insurance worldwide.

If you’ve lost money due to an event described in the terms and conditions and have not been able to recover it via your bank, credit card company, or another financial provider, you can file a claim via your NordVPN account.

   Log in and select “Identity protection benefits” on your account home page.

   Select your coverage type and click “File a claim.”

   You will be redirected to the provider's website, where you’ll need to enter your contact information and incident details.

Cyber protection becomes effective as soon as you buy a NordVPN Prime bundle subscription and ends:

• When you cancel your NordVPN Prime plan subscription.

• If the insurer or NordVPN serves notice to end the protection benefits.

The cyber protection benefits included with the NordVPN Prime plan subscription are as follows.

• Identity theft recovery, which provides reimbursement for expenses incurred while restoring your identity, up to $1,000,000. Eligible expenses include:

• Credit bureau reports.

• Replacement of documents, application fees, notaries, and postage.

• Legal fees necessary to undo the negative effects of the identity theft.

• Lost wages and child/elder care for time taken to address the identity theft (up to $5,000).

• Mental health counseling (up to $1,000).

• Other miscellaneous expenses (up to $1,000).

Additionally, victims will be given access to a licensed identity theft investigator who can provide professional assistance and guide them through the process of correcting their credit history or identity records. Investigators can do the majority of the work required to restore an identity on a victim’s behalf, providing peace of mind.

• Cyber extortion insurance, which provides support when the victim is dealing with demands for payment in connection with threats to delete or release information or restrict access to data, computers, or smart devices.

Support includes up to $100,000 in professional assistance from experts who can provide advice and consultation on how best to respond to the threats, payments made in response to the threats, and negotiation and facilitation of payment.

A limit of $1,000,000 applies to the identity theft protection, and a limit of $100,000 applies to the cyber extortion insurance. Both benefits are subject to a $100 deductible.

We share some of your information with the insurer (such as your email address, your subscription's start and end date, and the plan purchased). Additionally, if you need to file a claim under any of the protection benefits, you will need to provide your name, address, and email address. You may also need to provide additional information to verify a claim.

While every claim has unique circumstances dictating the time to closure, HSB will keep you updated throughout all key stages of the claim process. You will hear from the HSB team within one business day of your initial submission.
