AI prompt definition
An AI prompt, or an artificial intelligence prompt, is an input provided to an artificial intelligence system, such as a large language model, generative AI, or an image generator. Once the system receives the input, it provides an answer based on the information in its database. AI prompts can be used to generate written or visual output.
An AI prompt is typically provided in text. Instructions can range from a single word or phrase to a more complex sentence or paragraph. Detailed prompts are used to refine the information more accurately, reduce ambiguity, and return a longer, specific response. However, in some cases, longer answers may lead to the output containing inaccurate information, known as AI hallucinations.
