WireGuard was bound to become a game-changer in the VPN industry. This tunneling protocol utilizes state-of-the-art cryptography and insanely lean architecture. With only 4000 lines of code — 100 times less than other protocols — it’s relatively easy to deploy, audit, and debug.

There’s no question, it’s a perfect match for NordVPN.

However, even after 4 years of heavy development, WireGuard is a work in progress, a diamond in the rough.

WireGuard on its own can’t ensure user privacy that’s up to NordVPN’s standards. That’s why we developed a double NAT (Network Address Translation) system, which helps to establish a secure VPN connection and allows us not to store any identifiable user data on a server.

With this breakthrough, NordLynx saw the light of day.

To test the possibilities of NordLynx, we had to be thorough. We covered the majority of VPN use cases and, in doing so, performed 256,886 speed tests. The result was unequivocal — NordLynx is the fastest VPN protocol at our disposal.

NordLynx is already implemented on Linux, and we’re rolling it out for Windows, Android, iOS, and macOS. Soon all our users will be able to enjoy advanced privacy and next-level VPN connection speed.
