NordVPN for macOS: release notes

Ultimate focus, a confident smile, an affirmative nod. Click – and the release is out. This is the spotlight for the updates in the NordVPN app for macOS – come to the bright side.

NordVPN 5.0.0 (latest)

What's new:

  • success
It’s really hard not to get overly excited so.. NordVPN 5.0.0 is here! If you’d ask us to describe the new version in a single word, we’d say: versatile. Now you can set a protocol depending on what you’re up to. OpenVPN over UDP, OpenVPN over TCP, or IKEv2 – the choice is yours. The app still runs on IKEv2 as a default.
  • success
Speaking of newness, we’re bringing out a new server category: obfuscated servers.

NordVPN 4.15.5

  • success
Fixed: Our app sometimes had trouble getting out of bed. It’s no longer such a grouch — NordVPN will now cheerfully establish a secure connection the moment your device wakes up. (IKE)
  • success
A bit of fine-tuning under the hood to improve performance. (OpenVPN)

NordVPN 4.15.3

(IKE + OpenVPN)

One sneaky bug managed to slip into the previous release. The bug caused more requests to our backend than needed, and it felt overwhelmed. We eliminated the culprit. So no visible changes this time, just bug-free experience. More exciting things are yet to come!

NordVPN 4.15.2

(IKE + OpenVPN)

  • success
Fixed: Our app had trust issues. Removing a Wi-Fi network from the “Trusted” list made the app crash. Now the app is better at dealing with broken trust.
  • success
Some minor tinkering and grooming under the hood.

NordVPN 4.14.3

(IKE)

This release brings more than meets the eye: we’ve solved connection issues and we keep improving things underneath to make your NordVPN experience even better.

NordVPN 4.14.2

(IKE)

A smart user’s guide to online security: enable VPN auto-connect and forget about. Yes, you read it right – the AUTO-CONNECT feature is here! Make it work for you:

  • keep VPN on at all times;
  • connect to VPN only on Wi-Fi;
  • or, enable VPN only on networks you don’t trust.

So yeah, simply flip a switch, and NordVPN will take it from there. Easy!

NordVPN 4.13.5

(IKE + OpenVPN)

  • success
It’s nice to get the answers here and now when that “Houston, we have a problem” moment strikes. This time, we’re rolling out a batch of troubleshooting articles, accessible with just a few clicks in the app.
  • success
Fixed: We were so much into making our app toolbar the best version of itself that we messed up our VoiceOver support along the way. We want to thank our user David (we know your name isn’t David, but we’re happy to leave it private) for reporting the issue. So David, if you’re listening: we’re sincerely sorry for making your app experience kind of awful – we didn’t mean to. The VoiceOver is back in order now.

NordVPN 4.12.7

(IKE + OpenVPN)

  • success
We spiced up the app design with a little reverse: Quick Connect and Settings now sit at the top toolbar.
  • success
Need help? Head to the bottom left corner of the map.
  • success
Fixed: You connect to VPN, put your computer to sleep mode, wake it up later. You disconnect from VPN but our app be like: ‘Woah, wait, what? So confused.‘ And connect to VPN once again – even if you haven’t asked for it. We fixed the issue, so there’s confusion no more.
  • success
If it happens that the server you’re connected to is scheduled for maintenance, keep calm – no turbulence in your VPN connection is expected. The app will notify you immediately and recommend connecting to another server.
