2008-2010: Scammers masquerading as Microsoft employees tricked numerous UK citizens into giving them remote access to their devices to “fix critical bugs.”

2011: Google released Chrome Remote Desktop, a free tool for Chrome OS, Linux, OS X, iOS, Windows, and Android.
