The Windows operating system continues to dominate the desktop market and is supported by virtually every VPN provider. In contrast, Windows Phone users often struggle to find a VPN service that caters to their security needs. This is partially due to the fact that Windows Phone introduced support for VPN only in 2014 and still has limited options of security protocols.
NordVPN is one of the handful of providers to offer the Windows Phone compatibility. You can configure the NordVPN service with the L2TP/IPsec protocol.
Use this step-by-step tutorial guide to set up NordVPN on your Windows Phone. You can also access setup guidelines for other platforms (Windows, iOS, Android and more) here.
This tutorial shows how to manually configure L2TP/IPsec, a Layer-2 tunneling protocol encapsulated within IPsec. It uses the legacy IKEv1 Internet Key Exchange protocol, which is widely supported in many operating systems and mobile devices, including Windows Phone. It’s not difficult to configure and quite fast, while deemed not as invulnerable as the newer OpenVPN protocol.
