Warning alert The L2TP and PPTP protocols are becoming obsolete. Therefore, as of Dec. 1st, 2018, NordVPN will no longer support them. We recommend OpenVPN or IKEv2/IPSec.


This is a tutorial on how to connect to NordVPN using the L2TP/IPSec protocol on Windows 10.

1. Open Windows Settings > Network & Internet > VPN, and click on “Add a VPN connection”.


2. A list of settings will appear. Type in:

VPN provider: Windows (built-in)
Connection name: Any name, it does not matter.
Server name or address: A server name from our server list, at (for example,
VPN type: L2TP/IPsec with pre-shared key
Pre-shared key: nordvpn
Type of sign-in info: User name and password
User name: Your NordVPN username
Password: Your NordVPN password
Afterwards, click save.


3. Click on the VPN connection you have just configured, and then click “Connect”.


4. Once it says “Connected”, you will be successfully secured!
