Unified computing system

(also UCS)

Unified computing system definition

A unified computing system is a system that makes data center architecture more easily manageable. It’s a single unified system that brings network, virtualization, and computing technologies into one. By bundling and integrating components and resources, unified computer systems lower the demand for space, power, and management.

Unified computing system advantages

  • Fewer cables, fewer servers — less space needed.
  • Cheaper than installing separate components.
  • Setting up and upscaling is much faster.

Unified computing system disadvantages

  • Difficult to integrate other products.
  • Everything is so integrated into the system that getting out of it could be a challenge.
