What is Call Protection?
Call Protection is a NordVPN feature for mobile devices that flags potential scam calls before you answer. It screens incoming numbers and shows a clear warning so you can decide whether to ignore, decline, or send the call to voicemail instead of answering. Call Protection also offers call blocking against scammers and telemarketers. Available for Android users in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Japan, it helps prevent phone-based phishing and fraud.

How Call Protection works
When a call comes in, Call Protection quickly checks the caller’s number against up-to-date scam lists and patterns. If it is identified as risky, a clear label appears on your screen before you answer so you can decline it, let it ring out, or block the number manually.
Call Protection looks at caller information only — it analyzes a caller’s number reputation to detect potential scams. It does not access, listen to, or store any call audio or content. Once enabled, Call Protection runs quietly in the background and works even when your VPN isn’t connected.
Additionally, you can set up call blocking to automatically detect potentially fraudulent or promotional calls. You can select to block calls flagged as scams or telemarketing. Even if you don’t have call blocking set up, you receive a warning about a suspicious incoming call.
