What to expect

In addition to hundreds of seminars, networking opportunities, and workshops, the RSA Conference offers several unique attractions to visitors:
  • The ceremony for the RSA Award for Excellence in Mathematics, which is given in recognition of lifetime achievements in the field of cryptography.

  • The Innovation Sandbox contest, where 10 selected startups pitch products to a panel of industry experts for potential investment.

  • The Launch Pad, a Shark Tank-style competition where three finalists present cutting-edge ideas to solicit advice, raise awareness, or even secure funding.

  • The Early Stage Expo, a special trade show at the start of the RSA Conference dedicated to promoting up-and-coming players in the cybersecurity industry.

  • CE (Continuing Education) credits for attendees interested in further professional development, including full attendance reports.

History of the RSA Conference

The RSA Conference (originally the RSA Data Security Conference) was the brainchild of Jim Bidzos, the CEO of RSA Security. “RSA” is short for “Rivest, Shamir, and Adleman,” the founders of RSA Security and the creators of its public-key encryption technology. The first conference took place in 1991 and featured just one panel discussing the merits of DES and DSS standards.
RSA grew rapidly, going from just over 200 known attendees in 1993 to more than 2,500 in 1997. The conference eventually crossed borders, with the first European RSA event taking place in 2000. Today, it is estimated that approximately 45,000 people visit at least one RSA event in the United States, Europe, Japan, or the United Arab Emirates every year.
