Anonymous OS Used By Snowden Reached Version 1.0
This OS is known as The Amnesiac Incognito Live System (Tails). After five years of development, it finally reached the milestone. Created by anonymous developers the free software allows a private and anonymous use of the Internet.
“Version 1.0 is always an important milestone denoting the maturity of the free software project”, it was officially announced. The first public version was released on June 23, 2009 but was called Amnesia at that time. Almost after five years Tails 1.0 marks the 36th release since then.
Snowden, documentary film maker Laura Poitras and a journalist Glenn Greenwald used the software to protect their communications about NSA’s controversial surveillance programs.
After booting up the computer with the Linux-based software from a SD card, USB Drive or a DVD, it can surf the Internet without leaving any trace of its activity. Tails incorporates privacy, security and encryption tools like Tor that allows the software to build a private network pathway and distribute traffic over several hops.
