88 Percent of Internet Consumers in the United States Are Worried About Data Privacy
A recent survey of 1000 US citizens organized by GfK has found that 88 percent of the respondents are at least “a little” worried about the privacy of the personal data.
The survey conducted from 7 to 9 March 2014 also found out that about one third of consumers were directly affected by the misuse of their personal data within the last 12 months.
49 percent of respondents say they are “very much” concerned about the data privacy and 59 percent told their concern about the data privacy has risen in the past year.
56 percent of respondents say that top organizations like credit card companies and social networks need to take action on user data privacy and 54 percent say that the US government is not doing enough to protect the data of the US citizens.
Close to 80 percent of respondents say that the government should be involved in adding regulations to prevent organizations and corporations from “repurposing personal data to third parties”.
NordVPN strongly recommends every Internet consumer to use VPN and do not wait until someone else, the government in this case, will take action to protect your online privacy.
